The jury statement from the Norwegian Design Council: “Sustainable aesthetics. The product is seen as innovative in weaving technology and as a new use of materials. A woolen fabric with so much elasticity offers possibilities that can influence the expression of the furniture and opens up new, curved shapes in upholstered furniture. The jury believes that the product demonstrates that all phases of the production process have worked well together to achieve the best possible result. The fabric reflects quality through durability, choice of material, shine, structure and weaving tradition. It has an exclusive expression that distinguishes the material from the competition and communicates GU's profile in a good way. According to the jury, the product can contribute to strengthening the international reputation of Scandinavian furniture design through its innovation.”
Prinsdal does have a number of specific properties. To start with, this collection is woven a bit narrower than normal, namely 123 cm. In addition, it has fire retardant factors, good lightfastness and wear resistance.
Prinsdal is woven in 16 colours.
