Description
Mason is a collection of furniture fabrics from the weaving house of Bute Fabrics. It is a jacquard upholstery fabric made from recycled wool. The fabric feels firm and has excellent properties such as good lightfastness and fire retardancy, making it suitable for intensive use in various areas such as furniture, curtains and cushions.
What is striking about this collection is the print that is characteristic but at the same time falls away quietly. Designed by David Irwin, this print is based on a Gothic Revival mansion built by hand from the sandstone found on the Isle of Bute. The blocks with which this house is built have been carved out by hand by stonemasons, whose chisel marks are still visible when you visit the house.
David Irwin draws inspiration from craftsmanship and this is reflected in his designs for Bute Fabrics. The Mason collection is a good example of this.
